Gardens

The beaty of the west coast lies in numerous attractions, primarily its wonderful landscapes, often still waters and unique geography however remains attractive to horticulturists and garden lovers.

There are a large number of private and public gardens dotted around the west coast of Scotland, we have highlighted a few below with some impressive images with more to follow in 2009.

We recommend that you spend some time wandering through the gardens, some of which can be a thought provoking and creative experience.

Arduaine Gardens

The garden located between Lochgilphead and Oban on the west coast of Argyll is a nice National Trust garden with good variety of species and color.

The additional benefit of numerous benches and viewpoint out across the sea and islands at the coast make this a good walk with good interest especially on a good sunny day.

Crarae Gardens

This woodland garden is also in the care of the National Trust of Scotland and contains many appealing elements such as small bridges and winding pathways.

Due to the temperate climate here there are unusual species of flowers that you would not find in other areas of Argyll, although Achamore on Gigha is renowned even more so for the temperate climate.

The disappointing thing about the garden is that there would be stunning views across the Loch below if it was not for the woodland that makes up this desirable garden, however it is a nice pleasant afternoon walk with plenty of colour and interest.

Crarae gardens is situated between Lochgilphead and Inveraray.
