Scotland relies heavily on tourism, and has a thriving tourist industry with events playing a key part in attracting visitors to the various west coast locations.

Scotland has always been popular due to the small, medium and voluntary events that are held frequently, ensuring that almost every visitor gets to sample some of the cultural delights that the country can display.

There are still many small and medium sized events, most of which are put on using money fundraised or donated, sometime sponsors and downstream government funding. Most of which are also run by community voluntary committees.

The occasional large event such as the Connect Festival, the Cowal Games or the Spirit of the West is put on as highlights on the annual calendar.
